Equine Sports Massage Therapy Prevention Plan

If you could improve your horse's performance and his overall well-being, wouldn't you schedule a massage for him today?

A prevention plan depends upon:Muscles of the horse

  • Amount of time a condition has existed (chronic or acute)
  • Age of the horse
  • Disposition of the horse
  • Workload of the horse

Horses at a very high level of competition:

  • Week 1 — 3 massages
  • Week 2 — 2 massages
  • Week 3 — 1 massage
  • After week 3, should receive 1 massage per week

Horses that compete on a regular basis:

  • 1 massage every two weeks

Horses that compete occasionally:

  • 1 massage every two weeks for six weeks and then as needed

Horses that are used for pleasure riding or very light competition:

  • Massage as needed
