Diamond's Fancy (Sold)
2004 filly by Fun & Fancy Free out of Dark Diamond
Diamond's Fancy (a.k.a, Fancy Pants) arrived on April 15, 2004 at 1:40AM. A big healthy bay filly with not an ounce of white on her.
Jewel-B-Lee Farm's second foal out of Dark Diamond, a Trakehner, by Fun & Fancy Free, a Thoroughbred.
Fancy was not as independent as Chip when she first arrived, but that is definitely changing. She has a beautiful head (if you don't mind Jewel's larger than average ears on her) and a gorgeous hind end. She is going to be a top notch sport horse!
Due to minor complications with her umbilicous, it was decided to have it surgically removed when she was two weeks old. Her surgery was done at the Marion Dupont Scott Equine Medical Center where we tested out the scale. Fancy weighed a "mere" 188 lbs.
The post operative care had it's own challenges. Two weeks of "controlled hand walking" ... ever try to do that with a two/three week old foal? She has been quite good about it, now that she realizes that she's on the end of a lead rope. My life only flashed in front of me once or twice. During the second week of hand walking, we took Jewel and Fancy to our smaller paddock and were able to let Jewel loose while I stayed attached to Fancy. It was great for Jewel as she was able to get out and have a nice roll in the dirt. We're happy to report that she is doing absolutely wonderful now.
